I've said it before and I'll say it again: Originality is harder to achieve with the passing of time. The evidence is everywhere. The rendition of old TV series like 90210, Knight Rider, remakes of old movies like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (albeit animated), Batman (albeit awesome), even the production of automobiles to imitate the appearance of their previous models like the Mustang and Challenger, etc... Clearly, resorting to the past is due to the lack of creating something truly new. The concept is intuitive. As time progresses, more and more ideas are being unveiled, making it harder for genuine originality to come about in the future. The future generation can only hope that, once all originality is gone, all exisiting ideas will be enough to fulfill their "new trend" appetites, or that renditions of past ideas will, anyway. Pioneers can hope for the very same, or they can present some extremely outdated idea to fancy the world that has forgotten by that time: "Whoa, a superhero that can defy gravity and fly like a bird? Like a plane, even! Imagine that!" Good luck, future pioneers. Hats off to you. |
